Fiction about a character is not the same as harm to a person. A TV actor is a public figure. A user in the app is not. Coordinated pile-ons and false-report campaigns are themselves violations.
Hateful conduct
Prohibited. Attacks on a real person based on race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease. Targeting someone with slurs. Hate directed at a protected attribute of a public figure still counts.
Not a violation. Reclamatory, in-group slur use when the context is consensual. Counter-speech that quotes or criticizes hate in order to reject it. Criticism of a work, a character, or a performance. Fiction or art, unless it is used to target or harm a real individual.
What we do. One third-party report of hate does not hide the post for everyone. We look at context. When the reporter is a third party in a grey-zone case, we try to hear from the target before enforcing. Removal is hide or takedown. A ban is a human decision.
Abuse and harassment
Prohibited. Targeted harassment, unwanted sexual content sent at a person, violent threats, wishing harm on a real person, encouraging self-harm, brigading, doxing. Wishing an actor dies is harassment. Coordinated pile-ons and false-report campaigns are harassment of the process itself.
Not a violation. Wishing a character dies. Criticism of a work, a character, or a performance. Public-figure criticism up to the hard lines: doxing, sexual harassment, credible threats, and hate on protected attributes.
What we do. Reporter-side hide is immediate for the person who flagged it. Global hide is not automatic on one stranger tapping Report. Grey-zone cases stay in the human queue.
Sensitive media
Prohibited. Nonconsensual intimate imagery. Sexual content involving anyone 17 or under, including fictional depictions of minors. Graphic sexual media that is not clearly contextual. Gore posted to shock. We preserve CSAM evidence for the statutory window and report actual knowledge to NCMEC. We do not delete the underlying bytes on takedown.
Not a violation. Non-sexual discussion of sex on screen. News or recap context that is not the illegal material itself. Fiction or art that is not used to target a real person and that does not depict minors.
What we do. Sexual, violence, CSAM, or NCII reports against a post or a reply with media hide first, then a vision look. Confirmed-clean restores. Fail-open stays hidden for a person. NCII has a four-field request in the app and at support.
Spam
Prohibited. Bots, engagement farming, scams, malware links, repetitive commercial blasts, fake giveaways.
Not a violation. Enthusiastic posting about a show you watch. Sharing a clip with attribution. Asking people to watch something.
What we do. Spam reports queue. They do not auto-hide. Repeat commercial abuse can be removed. Bans stay human-only.
Impersonation
Prohibited. Pretending to be a real person, a show, a network, or buzzinTV in order to mislead. Fake official accounts.
Not a violation. Parody or fan accounts that are clearly labeled as such. Roleplay that does not claim to be the real person.
What we do. We look at the handle, display name, bio, and the content. Removal and, if the account exists only to impersonate, a human ban.
Spoilers
Prohibited as a crowd flag, not as a moderation report. A spoiler is not hate, spam, or abuse. Use Flag a spoiler on the card. That is a crowd vote. It shields other viewers when others agree. It does not send the post to the safety queue.
Not a violation. Talking about a show you just watched, including plot, in spaces that are not spoiler-shielded for that viewer. Being wrong about which episode a moment is from.
What we do. The consensus engine auto-shields. We do not ban people for spoiling. Do not file a safety Report for a spoiler unless the same post also breaks another rule here.
